Land Clearing Prices in Spartanburg, SC (2026)

Forestry mulching, lot clearing, underbrush removal, stumps and storm debris for Spartanburg County and the Upstate.

Land clearing in Spartanburg County is priced by three things: how dense the growth is, whether the material stays on the lot as mulch or leaves on a truck, and how the machines get in. A one-acre lot of light brush off a paved road is a day of mulching. The same acre thick with ten-inch pines, cleared bare and hauled, is three or four days and a lot of trucking. The ranges below are what a local crew charges across the county in 2026; your number comes in writing after a site visit, before any work.

Density drives the number more than acreage. Twenty years of privet and sweetgum on an old field costs more per acre than forty acres of open pine, because the machine moves slower and the pile is bigger.

Typical land clearing prices in Spartanburg County

Mulching prices keep the material on the lot. Clearing prices include hauling and disposal. Stumps are their own line because not every job wants them out.

Questions we get about this

Why does one quote say $2,000 an acre and another $5,000?

Because they are quoting different jobs. Mulching in place and clearing to bare ground with hauling are different tasks on the same acre; make sure both quotes say what happens to the material and the stumps.

Is there a minimum job?

A half day of machine time, roughly $800 to $1,200, for mulching; a $150 visit for stumps; $500 for strip work.

Does the price include the permit?

No. The owner or builder applies for the land disturbance permit and pays the county fee; the crew builds the silt fence and entrance the permit calls for and prices those in.
